Teletherapy
Ever since the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, North Start Mental Health, LLC has offered therapy sessions through teletherapy (telemedicine). This has allowed patients to receive the therapy they want without risk of exposure to the coronavirus.
As the pandemic has diminished, several patients have elected to return to in-person sessions. However, other patients have elected to continue meeting via teletherapy. For this reason, we have continued to offer teletherapy sessions.
Therapy through teletherapy is similar to videoconferencing, or using such applications as Skype or FaceTime. You and your therapist will be able to see and hear one another on a laptop or smartphone. Shortly prior to your session you will receive an email with a link to the virtual waiting room. When you click the link, your therapist will know that you are ready, and the session will begin.
There are a few steps to take prior to engaging in teletherapy. It is important to arrange for a private location where you won’t be overheard or interrupted during the session. It is also important to have access to high speed internet in order to reduce difficulties with connection.
